This article extracts the results for SomaGold, a gold (XAUUSD) EA sold on the MQL5 Market, from our mass backtest of 43 popular paid gold EAs run in July 2026. Every figure is our own measurement. No official images or official performance records are reproduced.

Test Conditions (Full Disclosure)

All 43 EAs were run under identical conditions. Nothing was changed for SomaGold.

Result: Rated Excellent (PF > 2 and max DD < 15%)

Over 11.5 years — a span that includes the 2015-18 range market, the 2020 COVID shock, the 2022 rate-hike cycle and the 2024-26 gold rally — the maximum drawdown stayed at 3.7% on default settings.

Where It Ranks Among the 43

• PF: 8th by PF among the 17 EAs rated Excellent.
• Max DD: the 7th smallest among the 17 Excellent EAs.
• Trades: 6th most among the 37 measurable EAs, and 3rd among the Excellent group after Gold House MT5 (9,531) and Xauusd Aether (7,872). 7,376 trades over 11.5 years is a simple average of about 640 per year.
• Price: $500 is above the median price of the 17 Excellent EAs ($299).

The overall conclusion of the 43-EA test was that price and quality are unrelated. SomaGold is one of the EAs priced above the Excellent group's median that also delivered an Excellent result.

Still Excellent on Another Broker's Real Ticks

Some of the 43 EAs were also tested separately on HFM real-tick data. SomaGold was rated Excellent in both environments — MetaQuotes (1-minute OHLC) and HFM (real ticks). The other EA rated Excellent in both was Adaptive Gold Scalper MT5.

The 1-minute OHLC model can be optimistic for scalpers with thin take-profits (real ticks vs OHLC). Because SomaGold's rating did not change on real ticks, we consider the risk of an optimistic evaluation on that point to be small. • The main figures come from a single feed (MetaQuotes-Demo). For the HFM real-tick retest, only the rating (Excellent) is published.
