A 4-EA Portfolio — 7 Years of Real MT5 Testing

A common mistake when choosing EAs is "concentrating all your capital in a single EA." No matter how good an EA is, when the market conditions that its currency pair and strategy struggle with arrive, it will temporarily sink significantly. With only one EA, people tend to stop trading during exactly that period.

The solution is to diversify across multiple EAs with low correlation (portfolio trading). In this article, we publish the figures from a real MT5 backtest that ran four of our tested EAs simultaneously.

Lineup — 4 EAs Across Different Markets and Strategies

BITCOIN COMETBTCUSDTrend following+23.5%11%
AUDCAD PEACEAUDCADRange mean reversion+20.9%24.24%
NZDCAD PEACENZDCADRange mean reversion+10%27.39%

Note (updated 2026-08-04): GOLD_KING v4.0 (current version: GOLD KING v6) / AUDCAD PEACE / BLAZE GOLD / NZDCAD PEACE in the table above are no longer distributed. The figures are actual measurements from MT5 testing at the time, and are kept as a historical record illustrating the point of this article (compounding and survival). For the currently published EAs and the latest measured figures, see the EA Ranking. Note also that the max DD column does not use one definition: NZDCAD PEACE shows relative drawdown (equity basis), while the other three keep the figures from the original tests.

The key point is that the pairs and strategies are spread out. Even in market conditions where gold struggles, the AUDCAD/NZDCAD range strategies earn from different price movements. The lineup is built so each EA covers the others' weaknesses.

Real MT5 Backtest Results ($10,000 Each, $40,000 Total, 2018–2024)

Combined performance when $10,000 is allocated to each of the 4 EAs ($40,000 in total) and they are run simultaneously:

MetricValue
Initial capital$40,000
After 7 years$217,756
Net profit+$177,756
Combined annual return (CAGR)+27.8%/year (about 2.1% per month)
Combined max drawdown22.3%
Test period2018–2024 (7 years, real MT5)

Capital grew 5.4x in 7 years. And the maximum drawdown stayed within 22%.

Why a Portfolio Has the Advantage

1. One EA's slump does not dictate the whole portfolio

Even if one EA enters unfavorable market conditions, the other three keep running in different markets. Instead of "betting on one EA," you "own four independent sources of return" — and that makes it possible to keep going, both psychologically and financially.

2. All are verified by long-term real MT5 testing

These four are not just short-term backtest figures. Only EAs whose survival was confirmed in real MT5 backtests were included: 16 years (including out-of-sample) for NZDCAD PEACE, 10 years for AUDCAD, and 7 years for the two gold EAs.

3. Consistency over flashiness

The combined monthly return is about 2.1%. That may look modest next to EAs that advertise "10% per month." However, high-monthly-return EAs inevitably blow up because of leverage. Even 2% a month becomes 5.4x if it continues for 7 years. Surviving and letting compounding work is what maximizes your final capital.

Tips for Running a Portfolio

  • Capital allocation: Start with an equal allocation to each EA. Once you are comfortable, you can weight the allocation according to your view of the market.
  • Account separation: For averaging-down EAs (AUDCAD/NZDCAD), we recommend running them in a separate account with separate margin.
  • VPS: Even running all 4 at once is lightweight. We recommend using a VPS for stable 24-hour operation.

Summary

  • Concentrating in one EA is risky. Diversifying across multiple low-correlation EAs is the key to staying in the game.
  • Our tested 4-EA portfolio achieved 5.4x capital, a 22% max DD, and a combined annual return of +27.8% over 7 years of real MT5 testing.
  • The design favors surviving and letting compounding work over flashy monthly returns. We publish only figures that have been verified by long-term real MT5 testing.
